M.A. in RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The Institute of Education, University of London.

We can encourage and support you to:

  • strengthen your professional practice and career prospects
  • reflect critically upon the principles and ideas that relate to policy and professional practice
  • deepen your understanding of contemporary issues, debates and developments in Religious Education
If this is what you are looking for then our MA in Religious Education may be just right for you.

The MA in Religious Education is offered as part of our MA in Education (Citizenship/History/Religious Education). This exciting and innovative MA programme is unique in that it offers students the potential to combine online and face-to-face teaching, or to pursue the course entirely by distance learning. We recognise that many students value the experience of face-to-face interaction, which is why many modules include a small number of seminars at the Institute of Education (held on Saturdays) with scope for online interaction for those participating from a distance.

Start in October or January and choose from modules such as those listed below.
  • Issues and debates in religious education (offers a critical introduction to influential issues and debates within the field of religious education, and upon the implications of these for practice)
  • Religion and school life (offers a critical analysis of the contested place of religion in schooling)
  • Philosophy of religion (offers critical engagement with topics within the philosophy of religion, to enable develop your capacity to construct and critique philosophical arguments, and to inform your teaching at A-Level)

Other Citizenship, History and multi-disciplinary modules are also available within the programme.

If you are interested in better career prospects, improving your critical skills, and deepening your understanding in religious education please email or phone our programme administrator, Alison A.Slade@ioe.ac.uk or telephone: 0207 612 6740 or visit www.ioe.ac.uk.
